Michelle McEvoy Doty, M.P.H, Ph.D., is vice president of Survey Research and Evaluation for the Commonwealth Fund. Dr. Doty is responsible for designing research studies that benchmark the performance of the U.S. health care system and address disparities in access to health care and health insurance coverage and the quality of health care of vulnerable populations. She has published over 40 publications on a range of topics related to high-need high-cost patients, international health system comparisons, culture change in nursing homes, health care access and quality among vulnerable populations, primary care doctors’ capacity to deliver care, and the quality of health insurance coverage in the United States. Dr. Doty also leads the Fund’s organizational performance tracking activities and works with staff to develop measures to assess and track the Fund’s performance. Dr. Doty holds a B.A. in anthropology from Barnard College and an M.P.H. and a Ph.D. in public health from the University of California, Los Angeles.
